De 24-jarige Onclin nam in de openingsronde in drie sets met 6-2, 5-7 en 6-3 de maat van het Hongkongse zesde reekshoofd Chak Lam Coleman Wong (ATP 169). De partij duurde twee uur en twintig minuten.

In de volgende ronde staat Onclin tegenover de Litouwer Edas Butvilas (ATP 212), die de Tsjechische wildcard Maxim Mrva (ATP 621) na dik anderhalf uur met 7-6 (7/4) en 6-1 uitschakelde

Gauthier Onclin is de enige Belg op de tabel in Ostrava.
