Après quatre années passées à l'Université du Texas, DeYona Gaston est passée par l'Université d'Auburn en NCAA la saison dernière, affichant une moyenne de 22,3 points par match. Elle avait été invitée pour participer au camp d'entraînement de la franchise WNBBA d'Atlanta Dream le mois dernier.

Elle sera associée dans la raquette brainoise à sa compatriote Quay Miller qui a prolongé son contrat au pied de la Butte.
